Terms
What you are buying.
The terms for the free demo, the purchase, and the license. Written to be read. Last updated 13 September 2026.
Who you are dealing with
Performative Labs LLC, a California company, makes Performative and Performative Ear. Using the demo, buying a license or using the plugin means you accept these terms. Contact: [email protected].
The product
Performative is a pitch-correction plugin for Windows and macOS, in VST3, CLAP and Audio Unit formats. Performative Ear, the key and scale detector, is included in the same installer and is activated by your license. The installer is the same file whether you are trying or buying; a license code unlocks it.
The free demo
The demo has no time limit. Playback occasionally passes the dry signal, presets and per-note editing are locked, and Ear requires a license. A confirmed trial, which lifts those limits for a while, is available once per machine and once per email address.
Buying
A license is $199, paid once. There is no subscription. Payment is processed by Stripe as the merchant of record, so Stripe's terms of sale apply to the payment and any tax is calculated and shown by Stripe at checkout. Your license code is delivered by email after payment.
Refunds
14-day refund, no questions asked. Email us within 14 days of purchase and we refund the full price. A refunded license stops working, and a payment reversed through your card issuer has the same effect.
What the license covers
- Using Performative and Performative Ear on up to 3 machines at a time. Deactivate a machine to free its slot for another one.
- Every update to version 1. Later major versions may be sold separately; there is no roadmap and no promise of future features.
- Personal and commercial use of anything you make with it. Your recordings are yours.
The license is for one person or one business. Email us if you need to transfer it to someone else.
The license does not allow copying, selling or sharing license codes, distributing the installer or the plugin, or working around the license check. The software itself stays the property of Performative Labs.
Activation and connectivity
Activating a machine needs an internet connection, in the plugin or from any other device. After that the license renews itself periodically and needs a connection at least every 10 days. The plugin checks your license on your own computer and never asks a server whether you are licensed. What it does send is listed on the privacy page.
If Performative Labs stops
If Performative Labs stops operating, we will ship a build that never expires, so you keep the plugin and your existing projects keep opening. This is a commitment, not a property of the code, and it is stated the same way on the about page.
Warranty and liability
The software is provided as it is. We work to keep it reliable, and the refund window exists so you can judge that for yourself, but we do not promise it is free of defects or suits every setup. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid for the license. This does not remove rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of California, United States. When they change, the date at the top changes; a change does not take away a license you already bought.
